Shadow Flies acquired Mango Fishing, a fishing materials and accessories company to complement our fly-tying business in 2015. One goes hand in hand with the other, with many materials being used in our flies as well as providing additional expertise in helping create innovative and cost-effective products. We wanted to keep everything ‘in house’. We wanted our materials to be as fine as our flies.
Mango Fishing was the original innovator behind 3-dimensional epoxy eyes, a product that has been copied and replicated but never improved. Since 2009 this department has produced every variant of 3D eyes in every format imaginable including asymmetric, glow-in-the-dark, predator eyes, frog eyes and even eyes with your own logo. No other business has produced more epoxy eyes or can lay claim to our expertise in this area.
Amongst other clients we have been producing dressed trebles for Rapala since 2007. We are proud to say that when you purchase a Rapala lure with a dressed treble, it will have come from our workshop. For all our combined clients we ‘tie’ on average 90,000 dressed trebles each month
Shadow Materials also offers a wide range of fly-fishing products including cone heads, dumbbells, tube fly components, synthetics and a wide range of natural materials.
